Concepción with Hazel Findlay

“I guess I got my ass kicked a little bit,” said Hazel Findlay, after facing off with Concepción (5.13), a 230-foot splitter near Moab, Utah. “Performance anxiety comes because you put too much pressure on yourself. But if you have low expectations, then there’s no pressure anymore.” Hazel finds success when, as she puts it, “you just kind of let yourself climb.”

Findlay, 32, was the first female Brit to climb a trad route at E9. She’s free climbed El Capitán four times and has sport climbed up to 8c/5.14b.
